With the little experience I have in the firm, I use this median to emphasize on a topic (AUDITING), most people don’t know what Audit is all about. Every registered company must carry out the audit of their company to enable them know the position of the business.
INTRODUCTION
Auditing consist of a searching investigation of the accounting records and other evidences supporting those financial statement. Through study and evaluation of his client’s system of internal control and by inspection of document, Observation of assets, the auditor with gather the evidence necessary to determine whether the financial statement provide a fair and reasonable competed picture.
AUDITING
Auditing is define as independent examination, investigation and impression of opinion of an the financial statement of an enterprise by an appointed auditor. In portion of that appointment and in compliance with any relevance statutory obligation. Auditing is also seen as an independent investigation on the book of been recorded.
WE HAVE TWO TYPES OF AUDIT
The various types of audit are classified into two sub-heading
1 Classification according to the Nature of the work undertaking by the auditor. The following types of audit exist

- Internal audit
- External audit
- Private audit
2 Classification according to the method of approach to the audit. The following types of audit exist.
- Management audit
- Transaction audit
- Balance sheet audit
- Continuous audit
- Partial audit or incomplete audit
- Final or complete audit
NEED FOR AUDIT
- The financial statement of an enterprise may actually not represent the position on the organization.
- Separation of ownership from the management
- The account prepared by the company accountant, if there is error or the account is out balances
- Company and Allied Matter Degree (CAMD) 1990 insist that every registered company must appoint an auditor in the first annual general meeting.
THE ROLES AND IMPORTANCE OF AUDITOR
1 ATTEST FUNCTION: the principal roles of a profession accountant in public practice called (auditor) is to perform the “attest function”. To attest the financial statements means to provide assurance as to their fairness and dependability. This includes two distinct stages of:
a. carrying out examination and investigation into the business and records of the client and it’s financial statement which enable the auditor to express on informed opinion.
b. this is auditor report which conveys to users of the financial statement. The auditor’s opinion as to the truth and fairness and dependability of the financial statement.
2 CREDIBILITY: The contribution of the auditor is to give “credibility” on the financial statement. Can be “believed”, that is. They can be relied upon by outsiders, such as stock holder, creditors, government and other interested third parties.
AN AUDITOR MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES:
Integrity
Independent and objective
Compliance with confidentially principal
Maintainer of technical competence in carrying out his audit assignment
